When the NDP sing-a-long began, kids stood up, grabbed their friends, jumped like mad with their hands in the air! THE EUPHORIA BEGAN!
So I urged S to go up to the kids together with me (not nice to leave her alone while I go play with the kids) to join in tthe fun!
I couldnt contain myself when I saw the kids' excitement and zest and earnestness to jump and be in the mood while teachers merely sat at the sides of the hall like stone statues. How could they not be moved by the enthusiasm that the kids have exuded?
There was a fire inside of me that needed to sway my body and belt out all-too-familiar lyrics to songs I have grown up with!
But there was a dilemma between maintaining my distance as a teacher, upholding the distinction in my status from the students'. I concluded that If I wanted to be a cool teacher, joining them is what I desire to do and I will do so! :D
So, I did. Arms around shoulders and hands waving in the air. The Zhonghua wave rippled around the hall too!
I have forgotten how exciting School celebrations can be. I have forgotten how Proud each one of those UG and band players must have felt standing in the middle of the parade square. I have forgotten this is how frienships are forged, deep and strong.
Maybe theres a persistent kid inside of me, or maybe, my sense of patriotism is really very very strong! :D
Oh~ Our Home Our he♡rt Our SG!
