I appreciate bilingualism. Ever since exchange in the States, till today. When I somehow became an impromptu tourguide in sch, furthermore in Mandarin! LOL with my standard. HAHAHA. There was this PRC mum with her 2 lil girls touring the school and she enquired about directions at the busstop, so she followed me all the way to central library and I chatted with her!
I know of my absence of belonging for NUS, but I quite enjoyed this impromptu act today. Mum immediately commented " os you are patriotic!" when I recounted the story back home! Mum knows me well yea!! haha I LOVE SINGAPORE, and somehow I was promoting Singapore, indirectly? Being a tour guide has always been one of my ambitions. I'll study hard for Korean 한국어를 열심히 공부할게 :)
I think it has just struck me once again, how others view NUS as 'intelligent, renowned and mighty'. I came across this in the States and had brushed it away. But now, I see people coming to visit this campus as it is renowned. Shouldn't I feel privileged to study in it? She said that I should be quite clever to be able to study here, but no, what if I told her that I feel incompetent in NUS?
