Very tired! But I miss playing during Lantern Festival. My friends have gone out for lantern festival gatherings with family members. I miss carrying the candle-lit lanterns and running around till the lanterns caught fire before willing to head home. Me vandalising by lighting candles all over the circumference of the ground around the bench and the challenge to ensure all remains lit till... im happy. haha. there was once my neighbour and I played till the basketball court lights went off (meaning its too late, time to rest) and we were so disappointed and reluctant.
There is pasarmalam near my house. but pasar malams have changed so much, they are no longer the cheap happy after dinner hangout places. my favourite kueh tutu stall is not even in sight. neither is best friend seowhwee's muah chee stall. the pasar malam row is sooooo short now. muah chee. When I was young - pre-primary age-, aunt would bring me to watch Chinese opera at an open field. there would be a small cart selling muah chee with a mere bulb for lighting. and I would get my dose of muah chee without fail. In retrospect, DID I GO TO WATCH THE OPERA OR TO OBTAIN MY SERVING OF MUAH CHEE? haha. I cant recall my childhood desires. But, that was when aunt was still fit and healthy. People age. Other stronger member of the family becomes the weakest. I have grown too. But. If I don't engage in childhood play now, I would be even older when another time comes. So, Im gonna play candles and lantern tmr. Hopefully it materialises :p
