a Dancer amidst the Nightscape

Sunday, August 25, 2013
My family is still quite traditional. Despite mum being a fangirl of a Taiwanese Idol (which is perfectly awesome to me haha so she understands my fangirlisms over UKISS!!!) and dad danced to gangnam style and gentleman at work; their roots lie deep and traditional.  In aspects of religion, stereotypes and everyday practices.
Last night was hangout with SEP mates!!!! It was a totally awesome night catching up especially more when the City Never Sleeps!!! My maiden visit to Timbre was so cool! Haha Yes, Ima noob but oh wells everything has a beginning right? Because I spent so much time with my roommate and friends in U.S, every lil thing/building that held a resemblance to U.S. happenings struck a chord between us. It was nostalgic and serene.  I sat on the high chairs at Timbre and pondered (yes, haha) - as though I have grownup, matured, in a different stage of life, different rules, perspectives. Each of us had a glass, in an almost alfresco style highclass chillout dining. I've never dined this way before.  But it was nonetheless the company that painted the night special. I always remember my old friends telling me that the faces in my photographs are no longer the faces that she, too knew.  There are many new faces in my life that I hold dear, but the faces from long ago, I'll never forget. Those faces, watched me grow :)

The City that never sleeps, the one I LOVE.
Last night, throngs of young people congregated at the SMU/Fort Canning area for Singapore's Night Festival! How cool is that! There were street stalls, performances, rock bands, acrobats, fire dancers, and MANY PEOPLE! I love crowds and hyped up streets. The museum had extended opening hours for the exhibits too.  The blasting techno beats along the streets from as early as 7pm!!! OH My Favourite!!! HAHA. The roads were cordoned off from traffic for the festival. Pyrotechnics danced across my eyes. Now, who says Singapore is boring?

I want a boyfriend who knows of such cool stuff happening in Singapore to bring the noob me to explore thru the night and then going home late would no longer be a worry. HAHA

And so, I told mum I had 2 drinks last night haha. She was so worked-up! She went on about people popping pills to spike drinks and getting into trouble and stuffs... Dad from the living room heard the agitated conversations and chimed in that Girls cannot drink ah, Heineken is very strong even I (dad) dare not drink! Haha.  No, they weren't angry with me, just worried. The way they wanna protect their only daughter and probably my change was too rapid for them to comprehend haha. But, it was not the first time :p  Slowly, slowly, and very carefully, they'll come to accept it.
Could it be the different circle of friends that I hang out with that I engage in slightly more adventurous dares? Maybe it was the U.S. that opened me to the world.

I have been wild. I miss my childhood techno a lot. Sometimes I wonder if I had forever danced inside of me growing up with techno dance music that has now become slightly obsolete...
oh, I was devastated for 4 years when the techno radio station shut down in Sec 2, till I discovered Kpop in uni...
